1. Policy Statement
Perth Property Cleanups is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, clients, and visitors. We recognize that effective health and safety management is essential to our business success and is a shared responsibility. We will comply with all relevant Western Australian legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and associated regulations.
2. Objectives
Our health and safety objectives are to:

3. Responsibilities
- Management:
- Provide leadership and resources for health and safety.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Develop and implement safe work procedures.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Employees and Contractors:
- Follow safe work procedures.
- Report hazards and incidents promptly.
- Use PPE as required.
- Participate in safety training.
- Take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.
- Clients and Visitors:
- Cooperate with Perth Property Cleanups' safety procedures.
- Report any hazards or concerns.
- Follow all instructions given by Perth Property Cleanups staff.
4. Hazard Management
- Hazard Identification:
- Regularly conduct workplace inspections.
- Encourage employees to report hazards.
- Conduct risk assessments for all tasks.
- Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate the likelihood and severity of identified hazards.
- Prioritize risks and implement control measures.
- Risk Control:
- Eliminate hazards where possible.
- Implement engineering controls (e.g., equipment guards).
- Implement administrative controls (e.g., safe work procedures).
- Provide and enforce the use of PPE.
5. Safe Work Procedures
- We will develop and implement safe work procedures for all tasks, including:
- Handling and disposal of waste and debris.
- Use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Working at heights.
- Manual handling.
- Traffic management.
- These procedures will be documented and communicated to all relevant personnel.
6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- We will provide appropriate PPE to employees and contractors, including:
- Safety footwear.
- Gloves.
- Eye protection.
- Respiratory protection (as required).
- High visibility clothing.
- Employees and contractors are responsible for using and maintaining their PPE.
7. Training and Competency
- We will provide comprehensive safety training to all employees and contractors, including:
- Induction training.
- Task-specific training.
- Hazard awareness training.
- Emergency procedures.
- We will ensure that employees and contractors are competent to perform their tasks safely.
8. Incident Reporting and Investigation
- All incidents, including injuries, near misses, and property damage, must be reported immediately.
- We will investigate all incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Incident reports will be documented and retained.
9. Emergency Procedures
- We will develop and implement emergency procedures for potential incidents, including:
- Fire.
- Spills.
- Medical emergencies.
- Emergency procedures will be communicated to all personnel.
10. Consultation and Communication
- We will consult with employees and contractors on health and safety matters.
- We will communicate health and safety information through:
- Toolbox meetings.
- Safety bulletins.

11. Review and Improvement
- We will regularly review and update our health and safety policy and procedures.
- We will monitor our health and safety performance and implement continuous improvement measures.
12. Hazardous Material Handling
- All hazardous materials, including cleaning chemicals, paints, solvents, and other substances, will be handled in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 (WA) and associated regulations.
- Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) will be readily available to all employees and contractors.
- Appropriate storage and disposal procedures, including labeling and containment, will be followed.
- Employees will be trained on the safe handling, storage, and disposal of specific hazardous materials they may encounter.
- Asbestos:
- Perth Property Cleanups will not knowingly disturb or remove asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) without a licensed asbestos removalist.
- If suspected ACMs are encountered, work will cease immediately, and a qualified asbestos assessor will be contacted.
- Employees will be trained on asbestos awareness and the risks associated with ACMs.
- Sharps:
- Employees will be provided with appropriate sharps containers and training on their safe use.
- Sharps, including needles, broken glass, and other sharp objects, will be handled with extreme caution.
- Employees will wear puncture-resistant gloves when handling waste that may contain sharps.
- Sharps containers will be sealed and disposed of according to local regulations.
13. Heat Injury Prevention
- Perth Property Cleanups recognizes the risks associated with working in hot environments.
- Employees will be provided with access to cool drinking water and encouraged to stay hydrated.
- Work schedules will be adjusted to minimize exposure to extreme heat during peak hours.
- Employees will be trained on the signs and symptoms of heat stress and heatstroke.
- Shade and ventilation will be provided where possible.
- Employees are encouraged to take regular breaks in cool areas.
14. First Aid
- Adequate first aid facilities and trained personnel will be provided.
- First aid kits will be readily available at all work sites and in company vehicles.
- First aid training will include instruction on how to handle injuries from sharps, and heat related illnesses.
- Procedures for dealing with chemical splashes, and other hazardous material related injuries will be included in the first aid training.
15. Document Control
- This policy and all related documents will be controlled and maintained.
- Records will be kept in accordance with legal requirements.
16. Policy Availability
- This policy will be made available to all employees, contractors, clients, and visitors.
- It will be displayed on our website and at our workplace.
